We Can Play and Lead Too

Sky Sports recently added a new NFL channel. This is the first time Sky has had an entire channel dedicated to the NFL. On this channel you get most of the shows on the NFL Network in America and one of the shows that is now on Sky and is one of the reasons I became so interested in the NFL is called ‘Good Morning Football’. If you want to get into the NFL I really recommend watching this show. Anyway, last week the hosts of the show predicted who they thought would be the MVP of the season. All four of the hosts predictions were black quarterbacks.

The one black host on the show, former NFL Wide Receiver Nate Burleson was emotional afterwards, talking about how there was once a time when there were no black NFL Quarterbacks and how it had filled him with so much pride to see how far we have come to the point that there are not just black Quarterbacks but they are predicted to become the Most Valuable Players.

Doug Williams was the first black Quarterback to win a SuperBowl

Timeline

As I said a couple of weeks ago, the Quarterback is considered to be a leader and the face of the franchise. These franchises are all worth over a billion dollars and so owners and general managers did not think black quarterbacks had the capacity to be either of those things.
