Sports Greatest Rivalries

A rivalry is defined on Wikipedia as two people or groups engaging in a lasting competitive relationship. This weekend is one of the few rivalries that I can actually get into, the North London Derby. Tottenham vs Arsenal. This game and Manchester United vs Arsenal are the only games that will really affect my mood for a whole week.

The North London derby is one of the more intense rivalries in not just British football but in British sport. So, in true Nadim style, which is being awake at 3am and googling random things, I searched what are the biggest rivalries in British sport. But that was not good enough for me, I had to know what the biggest sporting rivalries in the world are. From my late-night googling these were the most common rivalries mentioned, so I thought why not share that with you all.

Magic Johnson vs Larry Bird

Lakers vs Celtics (NBA):

Historically, this rivalry runs deeper than basketball. These two teams are the most successful franchises in the NBA and have met in the NBA Finals a record twelve times, the first occurring in 1959. This rivalry also includes a personal rivalry between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird that went back to their time in college and to a lesser extent Kobe Bryant vs Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.
