Do they Really Care?

Let us get serious for a few minutes. I started watching the NFL properly during my first few weeks at University. It was a Sunday night, I had been watching football all day and Sky Sports had been advertising the Cowboys vs Giants game if I’m not mistaken. Ever since then I have become a huge fan of the sport. The politics on the other hand are a much different story. I wanted to do a pre-training camp season prediction and at some stage I will but I must address the ignorance of the owners in the NFL and their treatment of Colin Kaepernick.

A couple of weeks ago the NFL put out a statement offering their condolences to the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery and stated that they were committed to fighting systemic racism. I was disgusted, because the NFL had the opportunity to address these issues before most other corporations when Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem in protest of police brutality and racial inequality in the America. They did not support Colin Kaepernick during this, instead when Trump said “get that son of a bitch off the field”, the NFL owners apparently agreed and we have not seen Colin Kaepernick on an NFL field since 2016, which clearly shows he has been “blackballed”.

The NFL then made every excuse under the sun from he’s not good enough to he does not fit our team. Four years later, not only has Colin…
