Coronavirus, Sports and an End of Year Roundup

The impact of the coronavirus on life has been nothing short of devastating. This has been through the unfortunate loss of lives, financial disasters, people losing their jobs and so much more. But I write a sports blog in which I look to inform and to radiate positivity so instead of going on and on about how the coronavirus has affected all of our lives I will instead write about the impact of Covid-19 on sports around the world.

Football around the globe was suspended at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic

The minute Covid-19 made its name known to the world different sporting events all had to be stopped. If I am not mistaken every sports league around the world had to be stopped in fact, I think only the E-Sports leagues were not negatively impacted. The Premier League in England along with the La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Bundesliga and every other league at the time were postponed until further notice. The NBA was postponed while the WNBA’s start date was pushed back. Around the world, rugby leagues, boxing matches, golf tournaments, cricket tours and everything else was either cancelled or postponed. For example, England were preparing to play Sri Lanka in Colombo at the time while South Africa were in India.

Upon resumption, the leagues had to figure out different protocols to keep their athletes safe and to also make sure their different events were able to go along uninterrupted even if there was a positive…
