A Fools Guide to the NFL
The NFL season starts on Thursday night, well Friday morning for us in the UK and I had always planned that this week would be my prediction and award post about the NFL. I then realised that many of you do not watch or care about the NFL and that is understandable. In fact the only way I have ever been able to have actual conversations around the sport is to kidnap my friends into a conversation or the comments sections on Youtube. So I figured I would use this as a teaching tool for all of us and give you guys an insight into what the NFL is all about.
CONFERENCES and DIVISIONS
There are 32 teams in the NFL. The teams are equally divided into 16 teams in each conference. There is the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Each conference is then divided into a further four divisions known as either NFC or AFC North, South, West and East.
There has however been a change in the amount of teams that make playoffs for this season. In the past it would be six teams from each conference that made it in the playoffs. It would be the four winners of each division that qualifies and the two wildcard teams as they are known would be the teams that did not win their divisions but had the two best records of the remaining teams in the conference.
